Thooku Vilakku

Rs.22000.00

DESCRIPTION

In Kerala, the Thooku Vilakku is known as the "Hanging Lamp." It is a typical oil lamp that
Kerala families hang on their verandahs, Pooja rooms, or as a decorative item inside their
homes. The hanging lamp is popular in many other parts of South India, including Tamil
Nadu, because it represents optimism and enlightenment. Both private shrines and public
Hindu temples use oil lamps on a regular basis. Every day, a light is lit in front of the Lord's
temple in almost every Hindu home. This antique tall oil lamp was made by hand in southern
India by talented craftspeople. It is set on an elegant pillar with smooth contours and a deep
dark brown patina. It has seven grooves to light the oil-dipped wicks.
